Can I use the seedbox for public trackers?
Yes, however, most people don’t need a seedbox for public trackers, but occasionally we come across someone who wants to seed to public trackers. We no longer restrict private trackers, but we do reserve the right to revoke this on an individual bases if it becomes a problem.
Is the SSL validation safe?
Yes, if you are logged in to our site seedboxhosting.com then the link comes directly from our site and is entirely secure. It is safe to allow an exception no matter what message your browser displays. Here is more information if you would like to read about it.
Is Wget installed on the seedboxes?
Yes, Wget is installed on all our seedboxes.
How do you handle Disk Failure & Seedbox Migration?
There are two main ways disks tend to fail:
- The large majority of the time they simply slowly wear out. We constantly monitor and proactively exchange disks to keep them fast.
- Occasionally they fail suddenly and without warning. Unfortunately this happens to old and new disks a like. It's the nature of the technology.
If you want more security against data loss, you can choose the RAID10 option in your configuration in your Control Panel. This cuts your available disk space in half, but the data is spread twice across two disks and if one fails the other will still have all of your data. Disks speeds will not suffer.
We're always working to improve things here at Seedboxhosting.com. From time to time, when we discover a failing or aging disk or just have newer and faster servers, we will migrate your seedbox to a new server.
This happens in the back ground and usually takes a day or so. We may ask you to not add any new large torrents until the move is completed. Occasionally we may need to migrate faster than normal as in the case of quickly failing disks. You will be kept up to date about all these things in our support system.
The only thing that will change when the migration is complete is your IP. This will be transparent as your seedbox name, domain, & password will stay the same. Your seedbox will be rebooted at the end of the migration.
How do I upgrade or downgrade to a different product?
Changing to a different seedbox product is as easy as this:
- Purchase the new Seedbox through our website. You may want to check your current subscription's cycle date for ideal overlap time with the two subscriptions, see below.
- Enable FXP (server-to-server FTP) on both seedboxes & transfer your data directly, or request our help if you prefer.
- Cancel the old subscription in your Paypal account. See managing subscriptions.
